Stir Fry: a Quick And Healthy Alternative
The last thing you want to do after a long day of work is slave over a hot stove. Stir frying can take the pain out of cooking and it is a healthy alternative to other quick and easy meal choices. There are no special tools required when preparing your meal. All you need is a wok or heavy skillet, a wooden spoon, some spices, and what ever you choose to throw in the pan for that night's meal. This is a popular form of cooking if your family eats leftovers. If you are not a leftover type of person don't worry; the task will be just as simple for you.

Heat your wok on high, and add olive oil to the pan to lightly coat the pan before beginning to add your ingredients. Next, add your spices to the oil, this will ensure that the flavor blends into the oil and is evenly distributed in you meal. Add your vegetables next, splitting the amount in half and stirring until they are lightly cooked. Remove the first batch and repeat with the remaining vegetables. This is done to prevent overcooking of the vegetables while the meat is cooking. Next you will put in your meat of choice and cook, stirring frequently to ensure spices are applied to meat and meat is evenly cooked. Once meat is almost ready, add your sauce if you choose to use one and stir in the vegetable mix as the sauce begins to bubble. Stir often and sample for desired tenderness of the vegetables. You can add more spices as desired. To reach your goal of a healthy and easy meal avoid using items which come in a box or can and use fresh spices when possible. Remember, salt should be avoided or used in moderation. Choose your meats wisely: skinless, lean and organic are your best choices for a healthy meal. After twenty to thirty minutes, you are on your way to a healthy alternative to fast foods.
