Low Fat Chinese Dishes

When looking to cut out some fat and calories in order to eat correctly or while dieting, try cooking different Chinese dishes that are very tasty, easy to prepare and can be healthier than ordering from the corner Chinese delivery service. There are so many different types of recipes to choose from that range from vegetarian, beef, chicken or fish to shrimp dishes.

Low fat Chinese vegetarian dishes can include sautéed green beans with scallion, garlic, ginger and soy sauce then coating the beans with sesame oil. Broccoli is wonderful stir fried with onion in olive oil, then add soy sauce and a blend of cornstarch and chicken broth for thickness. Eggplant in garlic sauce, asparagus and mushrooms with black bean sauce, or cabbage rolls are other wonderful vegetarian dishes to try. Chinese cole slaw, zucchini, cucumber salad or even vegetarian fried rice are simple and full of flavor. With fried rice, substituting grated cauliflower for the rice can cut the fat even more than the traditional recipe. The traditional way of preparing fried rice is to sauté garlic, chili pepper and ginger then add egg and scrambling it, add the rice and continue stirring while adding soy and oyster sauces with salt and pepper coating everything, at the very end add sliced scallions and serve hot.

Of course meat entrees are delicious and healthy also, such as beef broccoli lo mein, garlic or cashew chicken, Szechuan pepper fish, pork and vegetable stir fry, ginger chicken salad and Hunan shrimp are just naming a few. Also the soups are very simple to prepare with minimal ingredients.
